Can be demanding because it's not the main ability for the artist's mind. Look the internet, here and on the other forums, watch videos explaining how it works, technical stuff, you'll find useful users knowledge. Take the time to learn the Resolve specifications and configuration. At start it's not easy (compression, codecs, etc.) but it's like learning the engine: if you know it, you are much more efficient and you can cope with all troubles you encounters. Like you, I'm relatively new to that world, coming from Photoshop and a little Premiere and a self-taught artist, I had to learn how this stuff works, and it is like the jungle. When transcoding the CPU will be worked hard, but once playing should be fine.Īlso try playing around with the Render Cache - (under the PLAYBACK dropdown menu)

Transcoding - for the 5d2 and 3, I usually use MXF OP1A 1080p 36 - don't know if that is THE best but it works well, files size isn't too big and it allows me to edit fine. Resolve uses the GPU quite differently to photoshop etc, so if the GPU has any bottlenecks, they will show up in Resolve.Īudio - in the timeline, you can choose to have the waveforms shown or not - try turning them off and see how that plays - someone else was talking about a similar issue and that helped. I have a couple of older laptops that run lots of graphics programs fine, but just cannot cope with Resolve. Resolve isn't the friendliest of software in terms of power needed, but it needs it for a reason. In terms of playback in quicktime vs Resolve, you cant really compare unfortunatly as quicktime etc is only a playback tool, not a high powered post production/editing/color grading tool. I assumed that Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit (Service Pack 1) is supported: Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4 Go GDDR5ĭrive for media storage:6GB Western Digital Black 1Tb Processor: QuadCore Intel Core i5-750, 16 Go Dual DDR3-1333 (667 MHz) SDRAM (Microsoft Windows performance indice: 7.3) Système d'exploitation : Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit (Service Pack 1) mov H.264 190x1080 sound 2 channels 48KHz - about 2 minutes/clip When I try to playback my clips The picture don't play and the sound is very jerky (12 to 16 fps) (with a little best when in Color).īut The picture goes smoothly at 25fps when I disable the audio tracks.
